A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Paul Babitzke’s research lab within the Center for RNA Molecular Biology and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Penn State. The candidate in this position will study transcription and/or post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms in B. subtilis and E. coli. The successful candidate will explore fundamental mechanisms that control RNA polymerase pausing and termination, regulation of gene expression by transcription attenuation and translational control mechanisms, structural studies of RNA polymerase using cryo-EM, and/or genome-wide approaches to identify novel RNA-based regulatory mechanisms using RNET-seq, Term-seq, and Structure-seq. This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.
