About The Position

The Peter A. Allard School of Law is seeking applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in technology and law. This fellowship is designed for early-career legal scholars whose research focuses on the intersections of law, technology, governance, and society. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, artificial intelligence and law, privacy and data governance, cybersecurity, platform regulation, digital rights, intellectual property and innovation, legal technologies, computational law, and the regulation of emerging technologies. The fellowship supports ambitious scholarly agendas, including those employing innovative methodologies or interdisciplinary approaches. Applicants must have a primary research field in law and technology, broadly defined.

Requirements

Hold a JD, LLB, or equivalent law degree.
Have completed or substantially completed a doctoral degree in law or a related discipline (absent exceptional circumstances).
Be within five years of completing their doctoral degree.
Not have previously held more than one postdoctoral fellowship appointment.
Not hold, or be on leave from, a faculty position.
Have an outstanding academic profile commensurate with their early career stage.
Possess scholarly publications and research plans demonstrating strong potential.
Demonstrate a research interest and scholarship in law and technology.
Provide academic and research accomplishments.
Submit a research proposal (max. 2 pages).
Submit law and graduate school transcripts.
Provide names and contact information for two referees who will submit letters of reference.
Include a statement in the cover letter indicating status as a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or neither.
