About The Position

The University of Tulsa is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Advanced Composites Laboratory. This part-time position, approximately 10 hours per week, involves fabrication and processing of carbon/carbon and ceramic matrix composite materials. Responsibilities include conducting high-temperature processing, densification, coating, and thermal treatment experiments, as well as materials characterization using various techniques. The role also entails analyzing and interpreting experimental data, supporting graduate and undergraduate researchers, maintaining documentation, and assisting with the safe operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with faculty and student researchers.
• Strong experimental, data-analysis, and technical communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with composite materials, ceramics, carbon materials, high-temperature materials processing, coatings, or materials characterization is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication and processing of carbon/carbon and ceramic matrix composite materials.
• Conducting high-temperature processing, densification, coating, and thermal treatment experiments.
• Materials characterization using techniques such as SEM/EDS, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and mechanical testing.
• Analysis and interpretation of experimental data.
• Supporting graduate and undergraduate researchers with experimental procedures and laboratory activities.
• Maintaining appropriate experimental documentation and assisting with preparation of technical reports, presentations, and research publications.
• Assisting with the safe operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
