About The Position

The laboratory of Dr. Stephen Duncan in the Department of Regenerative Medicine and Cell Biology is looking for a postdoctoral fellow for a new multi-year project funded by the NIH with an anticipated start date of June 1st 2026. The postdoc will be working on molecular mechanisms underlying liver disease and development. We are looking for creative candidates with a strong background in molecular biology, a keen interest in developmental biology, have experience working with human induced pluripotent stem cells, application of bioinformatic to the study of gene expression, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with RNAseq, ATAC-Seq, and ChIP-Seq analysis is preferred. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a significant level of independence and scientific initiative.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RNAseq, ATAC-Seq, and ChIP-Seq analysis is preferred.
  • Ability to work alone in isolated areas, such as darkrooms.

Responsibilities

  • To develop and conduct research in consultation under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Duncan. Individual will be responsible for the design and implementation of experiments relevant to the project.
  • To maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic laboratory records that comply with NIH reporting requirements
  • To assist with daily maintenance of laboratory including managing cell culture room.
  • To assist in the training of graduate students and other laboratory personnel in the culture of iPSCs, molecular biology and bioinformatics.
  • To draft manuscripts for publication in reputable peer-reviewed scientific journals and to present work at local, national and/or international conferences.
  • To work closely with PI on developing research grant proposals for the laboratory.
