About The Position

The Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology will be responsible for developing mechanism-based new technologies and approaches to detect and measure biomarkers associated with important human diseases and to employ these methods to analyze samples from animal models of human disease and human subjects to test and validate their performance.

Requirements

  • Recent Ph.D. in any field of microfluidics, biosensor, nanotechnology, lab-on-a-chip/micro-total-analysis systems, BioMEMS or related field.
  • Demonstrated skills in microfabrication (photolithography, soft lithography, PDMS device fabrication).
  • Demonstrated skills in analytical chemistry.
  • Demonstrated skills in protein chemistry.
  • Demonstrated skills in droplet and digital microfluidics.
  • Demonstrated skills in on-chip assay development.
  • Research experience in biosensor design and development.
  • Research experience in technologies for biomarker discovery.
  • Research experience in studies on extracellular vesicles or microfluidic device design and fabrication.
  • Research experience in nano/micro scale fluid handling.
  • Research experience in droplet and digital microfluidics.
  • Research experience in on-chip separation and immunoassays.
  • Research experience in protein biochemistry.
  • Research experience in microfluidic sample preparation and particle/single-cell capture including project design, device characterization and data analysis.
  • Proficient research skills.
  • Ability to perform nanomaterial design and fabrication.
  • Ability to perform biosensor development.
  • Ability to perform cell culture.
  • Ability to perform standard molecular biology techniques.
  • Ability to perform protein and exosome isolation.
  • Ability to perform microfluidic device design, fabrication and testing.
  • Strong computer skills, including an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or Power Point software applications.
  • Solid analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read literature and understand its content with an analytic mind.
  • Motivation to independently work on research assignments and create new projects, as assigned by the PI.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
