About The Position

The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee. The Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department at The University of Alabama is seeking a candidate for a Postdoctoral position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in water quality, water security, and geospatial data analysis. The candidate will support CWQR research projects, including the development of a water security dashboard and engagement with water utilities. Successful candidates will hold a terminal degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in research. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity and funding.

Requirements

Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Water Resources, Geography/GIS, or a related field.
Ph.D. or terminal degree completed by the start of employment.
Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and geospatial data analysis.
Experience designing and administering surveys.
Experience managing and visualizing environmental data.
Strong analytical chemistry skills, including but not limited to LC-MS, ICP-OES and GC-MS.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency with dashboard or data-visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, R Shiny, or Python-based frameworks)
