About The Position

The Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub is seeking a post-doctoral scholar to support its mission to serve as a digital humanities resource for the state of Mississippi. This grant funded position, potentially renewable for up to one year, will focus on planning a conference and summer workshop, preparing materials for secondary school instructors, and managing relationships with partner institutions throughout the state.

Requirements

  • PhD in a humanities field (English, History, Philosophy), with as least one year's experience working in the digital humanities or DH pedagogy.
  • Experience working with digital humanities tools, pedagogy, and methods.
  • Experience teaching, with special consideration given to experience teaching digital humanities skills to audiences with a range of experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust work based on input and work within a collaborative, team environment.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in workshop and/or conference planning.
  • Experience with web site or programming.
  • One-year’s teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan and prepare lessons, training guides, and materials for summer workshops hosted by the Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub. The 2027 workshop will be for secondary-education teachers from across Mississippi.
  • Prepare content experts and staff to teach and support summer workshops.
  • Lead digital humanities workshops for both internal and statewide partners.
  • Assist in the development of a statewide network of university and college digital humanities programs.
  • Assist and support funded DH programs at USM and at partner institutions across the state in conjunction with University Libraries.
  • Along with Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub staff, plan, organize, and lead a conference on digitalization and the digital humanities for stakeholders in Mississippi.
  • Adhere to Center for Digital Humanities, Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub, and university policies, procedures, and regulations, and perform other duties as assigned.
