About The Position

Dr. Yang’s lab at Duke Department of Medicine has an NIH/NIA-funded position for a postdoctoral fellow to study the immune-vascular interactions in postoperative neurocognitive disorder. We seek a highly motivated individual with a background in neuroscience who can leverage techniques including advanced genomics, microphysiological cell culture system, and animal models. The team is highly collaborative and integrated with multiple cores (within Duke) and collaborators in other US institutions.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. is required with training in neuroscience, immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, and/or a related field.
  • Experience with cell culture, mouse models, and biochemistry/molecular biology is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with gene sequencing techniques/data analysis is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Confer with the principal investigator in developing plans for research projects.
  • Perform experiments independently using cells and animal models.
  • Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare analyses of experimental results to draw appropriate conclusions about the experimental findings.
  • Write manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prepare presentations for research conferences and prepare data for grant submission.
  • Learn how to write fellowship grants.
  • Train new personnel in the lab and supervise the work of lower-level employees.
