The University of Florida’s Wildlife and Aquatic Veterinary Disease Laboratory and Cervidae Health Research Initiative is hiring a postdoctoral research associate to work on characterizing emerging pathogens negatively impacting Florida wildlife and managed populations, emphasizing white-tailed deer. The ideal candidate will have expertise in bioinformatics, including analyzing metagenomic data (e.g., virome) and phylogenomics, statistics, and an interest in infectious disease research. The ability to develop novel computational methods using machine learning approaches for analyzing sequencing datasets will be an added advantage. The candidates will have a track record of publishing in peer-reviewed academic journals and strong communication and problem-solving skills. The successful applicant will work with Dr. Kuttichantran Subramaniam in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology.
