About The Position

The Atmospheric Sciences Research Center research group is contributing to a project focused on understanding future climate conditions and weather-related hazards across New York State. The project examines high-impact perils including extreme wind gusts, hurricanes, extratropical cyclones, tornadoes, hail, extreme precipitation, and coastal and inland flooding. A central objective is to generate high-resolution meteorological datasets using complementary physics-based numerical models and artificial intelligence-based downscaling methods. The postdoctoral associate will conduct physics-based and AI-based modeling and analysis of meteorological hazards, as well as statistical analysis of financial loss datasets. The role includes reporting research findings weekly to the Empire Innovation Professor, presenting regularly to the project sponsor, and sharing findings through project reports, peer-reviewed publications, project meetings, and international conferences. The position reports to the Empire Innovation Professor and has no supervisory responsibilities.
