Postdoctoral Associate/Senior Postdoctoral Associate

Stony Brook University•Town of Brookhaven, NY

About The Position

The C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP) at Stony Brook University anticipates filling one or more postdoctoral research appointments in theoretical physics, with an approximate start date of September 1, 2027. Appointments are for two years and may be renewed for a third year, subject to the availability of funds. Research directions include topological phases of matter and their realizations on quantum devices, quantum error correction, fault-tolerant quantum computation, non-equilibrium quantum dynamics, and generalized symmetries. The appointee will conduct theoretical physics research and may collaborate with senior and junior YITP members and researchers at other institutes. The Institute has a tradition of collaboration with Stony Brook’s Departments of Physics and Astronomy and Mathematics, the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics, and Brookhaven National Laboratory. The role may involve travel for research purposes. The Senior Postdoctoral Associate also mentors YITP graduate students. Applicants should submit a resume/CV and cover letter with the online application. Employment is subject to Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines, and funding availability. The position is FLSA-exempt and not eligible for overtime provisions.
