About The Position

This postdoctoral associate position focuses on cutting-edge research at the intersection of satellite data applications for air quality and public health within the Fiore research group at MIT. The role involves conducting and analyzing simulations using chemistry-transport and/or chemistry-climate models, as well as working with in situ and/or remotely sensed observations from ground or airborne platforms. Key responsibilities include leading scientific publications and presentations, and designing and documenting software for scientific analysis and visualization.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in atmospheric chemistry, remote sensing, climate science, or related field.
• Strong publication record in relevant journals.
• Proven competence with programming for scientific analysis and visualization such as in Python.
• Self-motivation and demonstrated ability to conduct independent research.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to deliver results, adapt to change, work on research proposals, and work in team-oriented environments, including in collaborations with stakeholder partners.

Nice To Haves

• Research experience in the development of remote sensing retrieval algorithms.
• Research experience in the application of satellite data.
• Research experience in air quality modeling.
• Research experience in atmospheric chemistry modeling.
• Research experience in statistical modeling approaches (including machine learning).
