The Theory Group in the Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory is hiring postdoctoral appointees in nuclear theory, with positions beginning as early as Spring 2027. Appointments are for two years, with the possibility of one additional year contingent upon funding and performance. The group’s research spans QCD and hadron physics, nuclear structure, and reactions, with an emphasis on artificial intelligence and quantum information science. It has access to extensive laboratory and national computational resources and collaborates closely with computational scientists in other divisions, including Mathematics and Computer Science and the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility. The group participates in three SciDAC-5 projects, two Genesis Mission projects, and two Topical Collaborations. Applicants should complete the online application, email a curriculum vitae and an approximately one-page statement of research interests to Ian Cloët, and arrange for three recommendation letters to be emailed to the same address. Questions about the position may also be sent to Ian Cloët. Applications received by November 20, 2026 will receive fullest consideration.
