About The Position

This position is responsible for handling duties in a post office, including receiving and sorting mail, selling postage, weighing packages, stamping envelopes, assisting customers, selling money orders, ensuring mail has correct zip codes and addresses, and the distribution of incoming mail and parcels to the proper recipients. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will primarily be performed in an office environment. Work will be performed both inside and outside on a regular basis, in most weather conditions. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position. Occasional local day travel, Local travel to managed businesses.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of experience working in a customer service orientated position.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid AZ driver's license.
  • A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.
  • Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service and knowledge to postal customers.
  • Sort incoming mail to ensure that it is delivered to the proper locations and recipients.
  • Distribution of mail and parcels to proper recipients post off box.
  • Operate sorting, weighing and postal machinery per prescribed methods.
  • Maintain inventory of postal supplies and materials.
  • Selling of postage and mailing supplies, money orders, and post office box rentals; collects deposits, payments, or fees.
  • Assist mail carriers by putting mail in bags for transport.
  • Ensure that each parcel or package received conforms to the safety protocols provided by the post office administration; report any parcels or letters containing suspicious content.
  • Check packages for proper postage and addresses; hand stamp mail; obtain proper signatures for priority pick-ups; register, certify and ensure letters and parcels; provide notifications for packages that could not be delivered.
  • Complete, process or cash money orders.
  • Record and balance the cash drawer; ensure postal transactions are precise and accurate.
  • Set postage meters and calibrate to ensure correct operation.
  • Complete forms regarding changes of address, or theft or loss mail, or for special services such as registered or priority mail.
  • Assist customers with questions regarding mail regulations, postage rates and postage limitations; complaints regarding mail theft, delivery problems and lost or stolen mail and escalate to Management as deemed appropriate.
  • Post announcements, government, or Community information on public bulletin boards.
  • Adhere to security and confidentiality guidelines.
