The Schiffer Group at Fred Hutch is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to work on within host mathematical and evolutionary modeling to understand HIV persistence and cure. This a hybrid role and candidates need to be on-site three days a week.

Requirements

  • PhD degree from a quantitative field such as physics, applied mathematics, engineering, population genetics, ecology, computational biology etc.
  • Strong numerical programming skills in Python, Matlab and/or R.

Nice To Haves

  • Differential equation-based models and/or agent-based modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mathematical models that focus on optimizing treatments for various viruses including but not limited to SARS-CoV-2, HSV-2 and HIV-1.
  • Collaborate with laboratory-based scientists (including biology and immunology), both in the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Division (VIDD) at Fred Hutch, and externally.
