The Joshi lab is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate to investigate the biogenesis of membrane-bound organelles, specifically lipid droplets and peroxisomes. The research will focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which these organelles form from the ER membrane, utilizing budding yeast and mammalian cell culture systems. The project involves characterizing ER subdomains, identifying their protein and lipid composition, and studying membrane curvature induced by ER shaping proteins like Pex30 (yeasts) and MCTPs (mammals) using Cryo-EM. The lab employs techniques such as yeast and mammalian cell culture, confocal and super-resolution microscopy, live-cell imaging, advanced image acquisition and quantitation, and various biochemical and molecular biology techniques. This is a grant-funded position contingent upon continued grant funding.
