The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will join the Novak Lab within the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and work as part of an interdisciplinary research team focused on musculoskeletal biology and skeletal healing. This position provides access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources to support both clinical and basic science research. Research efforts will focus on understanding the bone and cartilage healing microenvironment in both physiological and pathological conditions. Areas of study include immune and hematopoietic cell interactions with mesenchymal and endothelial cells following injury, immune signaling pathways involved in skeletal healing, and transcriptional and proteomic changes that impact bone and cartilage repair. The laboratory utilizes multi-omics approaches to identify novel molecular targets with the goal of advancing pre-clinical findings toward clinical application. The fellow will conduct experiments involving transgenic and knockout mouse models to study osteoblast and osteoclast differentiation, migration, and function during normal physiology, systemic inflammation, and fracture healing. Additional responsibilities include data analysis, preparation of manuscripts and presentations, participation in grant-related activities, and collaboration with interdisciplinary research teams. This position offers advanced training opportunities in musculoskeletal and skeletal biology research.
