This position involves designing and conducting research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career. The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc. The role involves designing and evaluating experiments, developing new ideas that promote current research, and preparing and publishing scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. The position may also be responsible for the operation of specific equipment and may involve teaching techniques to others, training, and supervising research staff. These are temporary appointments as a research trainee, with an initial one-year term, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years. The English department invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow who will teach five courses for the 2026-2027 academic year, starting in August 2026. Applicants must have a PhD conferred before August 1, 2026. The salary for the 2026-27 academic year will be $55,000. Positions are available in the following areas: Early and/or 19th-century American literature and culture, Latinx Literature and Culture, or Literature and Medicine or Ecocriticism.
