About The Position

The Nguyen laboratory at Seattle Children’s Research Institute invites applications for a post-doctoral fellow. We are a research group using computational methods, high-throughput sequencing, and cutting-edge molecular biological techniques to investigate the role of genetic and epigenetic regulation in kidney injury and regeneration. We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to lead experimental design and data analysis for projects within our lab. Experimental procedures will primarily include animal procedures involving kidney injury models, functional assays, cell culture, and histopathology. Responsibilities will include executing experiments, record keeping, data analysis, method development and communicating with the rest of the research team. Excellent motivation, communication skills, organization, accountability, and a positive attitude are a must. Ph.D. in a related field is required, however, training on current research areas in the laboratory will be provided. This is an ideal position for someone passionate about doing research within a highly collaborative team and looking to gain mentored experienced and learn new skills.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a related field is required
  • Experience in handling mice and performing procedures
  • Experience in cell culture
  • Experience in histopathology
  • Knowledge of safe handling methods (MSDS) of potentially hazardous chemical material and biohazard samples
  • Knowledge of computer applications and ability to learn and apply new technologies and skills
  • Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & Access)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to effectively present research findings to various groups
  • Able to effectively analyze data and develop conclusions/hypotheses using accepted research methodologies
  • Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in specialty area from an accredited university training program.
  • Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience conducting research in nephrology.
  • Experience in protocol and manuscript development and in grant writing.
