About The Position

The Sound, Systems, and Structures Laboratory is dedicated to modeling and testing vibroacoustic systems. The lab combines the related fields of acoustics, dynamics, vibrations, signal processing and controls in order to model and simulate various physical and biological systems in order to understand their behavior and or develop diagnostics and medical devices.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, applied physics, or a closely-related field
  • Strong background in vibroacoustic modeling and testing
  • Experimental testing
  • Technical presentations and publications
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team delivering project components on given time schedules
  • Ability to multi-task

Responsibilities

  • Mentoring graduate students
  • Writing journal publications
  • Preparing reports that summarize the work conducted for progress reports to funding agencies
  • Planning, developing, and implementing technical and scientific research programs
  • Contributing to proposal writing and acquisition of preliminary data
  • Preparing reports
  • Performing literature reviews
  • Supervising graduate and undergraduate students
  • Assisting with other projects in the lab
