About The Position

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral associate in molecular biology/genomics, to begin as soon as possible. The successful candidate will work with members of the Kaplan laboratory to create mammalian cell models for human disease alleles using CRISPR/Cas9 editing and genomic/deep sequencing analysis of model alleles. Projects include the establishment of a Multiplexed Assay of Variant Effects for an essential gene linked to neurodevelopmental syndrome and characterization of individually edited human cell lines using genomic approaches. The Department of Biological Sciences is a highly interactive community situated on the Oakland campus of the University of Pittsburgh. We are dedicated to the mutual success of our faculty and students in our research, education, and outreach missions. The department and university nurture a strong teaching community with active efforts in teaching innovation and pedagogical research. Pittsburgh is a city that is often voted "most livable" in the nation. Further information about the Department of Biological Sciences is available at: http://www.biology.pitt.edu.
