About The Position

This position is for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Pathology at Endeavor Health in Evanston, IL. The role involves managing and planning laboratory experimental work, designing and conducting experiments, reviewing scientific literature, and analyzing research results. The fellow will co-author scientific papers, supervise laboratory personnel, teach others complex experimental techniques, and consult with research professionals. Additionally, the role includes participating in study design for genetic epidemiological studies, performing statistical and bioinformatics analysis, evidence-based analysis, and grant writing. The position offers compensation based on NIH guidelines and is a full-time role with standard business hours, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Medicine Required Or Doctorate Biology Required Or MD Medicine Required Or MD Biology Required Or PHD Medicine Required Or PHD Biology Required
  • 3 Years of experience in professional research laboratory in genetic epidemiological studies.
  • Extensive knowledge of current literature in translational, traumatic brain injury research.
  • Experience with preparing applications to ethical review boards regulating animal studies.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, organizes, and plans the experimental work of the laboratory, with the approval of the principal investigator.
  • Designs, sets up, conducts, and correlates a variety of difficult experiments (original and standard).
  • Regularly reviews scientific literature.
  • Evaluates and recommends applicable techniques and procedures.
  • Analyzes and prepares results of research in conjunction with the principal investigator(s).
  • Co-authors scientific papers for presentation and publication.
  • Directly supervises various levels of laboratory personnel, including hiring, appraising performance, recommending salary increases, and taking appropriate disciplinary action.
  • Teaches others to perform technically difficult experiments requiring advanced knowledge of complicated procedures and techniques.
  • Consults with professional research personnel in matters of research design, experimental techniques, instrumentation, and scientific inference from research results.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.
  • Participates in study design for genetic epidemiological studies.
  • Performs statistical analysis and bioinformatics analysis.
  • Performs evidence-based analysis.
  • Participates in grant writing.
  • Participates in writing and submission of peer-reviewed manuscripts.
