About The Position

The Schrider Lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hiring a postdoc in population genetics and/or phylogenetics. The successful candidate will help design and carry out projects related to one or more of the following: 1) the development and application of computational methods to interrogate the impacts of (and interplay between) adaptation, recombination, introgression, and demographic changes on genetic diversity within and between species; 2) elucidating the phylogenetic relationships among species and/or the genealogical relationships of individuals of the same species; 3) the study of these or other evolutionary questions in mosquito genomes; 4) examining the dynamics of evolutionary models (e.g. the evolution of therapeutic resistance in cancer) via simulation and/or analytical theory.

Requirements

  • Strong research background in evolutionary genetics and/or computational genomics.

Nice To Haves

  • Highly motivated by team science.

Responsibilities

  • Design and carry out projects related to population genetics and/or phylogenetics.
  • Develop and apply computational methods to interrogate the impacts of adaptation, recombination, introgression, and demographic changes on genetic diversity.
  • Elucidate phylogenetic relationships among species and/or genealogical relationships of individuals.
  • Study evolutionary questions in mosquito genomes.
