About The Position

The Hong Lab in the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology, College of Pharmacy and the Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute at the University of Utah is seeking for innovative, energetic, and motivated postdoctoral scientists to work on NIH -funded research focusing on understanding basic mechanisms of cardiac metabolism and heart failure using cellular and animal models to develop novel therapies for heart failure.

Responsibilities

• Exploring new mechanistic regulation of membrane microdomains in normal and failing cardiomyocytes using imaging and biochemical analysis
• Studying cardiomyocyte metabolic dysregulation in animal models of HFrEF and HFpEF
• Developing new therapies using both in vitro and in vivo biochemical approaches
• Using multiple rodent and large animal models of HFrEF and HFpEF to explore the rescue ability of such treatment
• Writing original research manuscripts and grant applications
• Preparation and delivery of poster and oral presentations at local and national scientific conferences
• Mentoring research interns and associates
