This transdisciplinary training opportunity is to participate in a variety of projects focused on the translation of cancer and genetic information in clinical and public health settings. We are looking for a fellow with experience and interest in the intersection of cancer and health communication, health behavior change, epidemiology, or health equity. The fellow will participate in projects funded by the National Institutes of Health and will be encouraged to develop independent projects in this area. Data are available from projects such as a current randomized clinical trial funded by the National Cancer Institute to compare delivery of cancer genetic services via a conversational agent to standard of care. Extensive genetic counseling resources and cohorts of patients are available at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. The post-doctoral fellow will be mentored by Dr. Kimberly Kaphingst, Professor of Communication and Director of Cancer Communication Research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah. Many collaborative opportunities are available within the University of Utah (e.g., Utah Genome Project, Utah Population Database, Cancer Control and Population Sciences program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, Department of Population Health Sciences, Consortium for Families and Health Research).
