About The Position

A postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the Cancer Control and Population Sciences research program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute ( HCI ) at the University of Utah with Dr. Yelena Wu. The post-doctoral fellow will work on behavioral intervention research studies, including NIH and ACS -funded randomized controlled trials of skin cancer and risk communication interventions for children and families delivered via telehealth and in community settings. Several ongoing and planned studies use wearable sensor technology and mHealth approaches to health behavior change. This position will help to prepare the postdoctoral fellow for an independent academic research career. The fellow will have opportunities to develop new research projects, lead and collaborate on manuscripts with a multidisciplinary team, receive mentored grant-writing experience, to mentor team members including undergraduate and graduate students, and present research at national meetings. The fellow will also have opportunities to develop their own research program through pilot work and/or grants. Fellows can also take advantage of the many workshops, seminars, and other trainings at the University of Utah and Huntsman Cancer Institute focused on topics such as behavioral research, quantitative analysis, grant-writing, and leadership development. The CCPS Program at HCI is a comprehensive research program that spans the cancer control continuum from etiology, primary prevention, screening, and early detection to continuing care, survivorship, and end-of-life care. HCI offers state-of-the-art facilities, including a 220,000 sq. ft. research building that opened in the summer of 2017 where Dr. Wu’s research team is housed. Successful applicants will have a PhD in psychology, public health, or other relevant social or population science fields. Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
