About The Position

The Post-Baccalaureate Assistant in Career and Professional Development supports both the student-facing and behind-the-scenes work of the office. This position combines career services support, data analysis, reporting, and workflow assistance to help strengthen student engagement, employer partnerships, and career outcomes. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with data, and interested in learning how career services offices support students and employers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree completed by the start of the appointment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with raw data files such as CSV and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Experience cleaning, organizing, and analyzing data for reports or presentations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
  • Interest in higher education, student success, career development, or data-informed decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a career management system such as Handshake, Symplicity, Graduway, or a similar platform is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, Excel, or other data visualization tools preferred.
  • Prior experience in a career center, student affairs office, or higher education setting.
  • Experience creating reports or dashboards for leadership audiences.
  • Familiarity with NACE career readiness competencies and student outcomes.
  • Ability to simplify technical information for a non-technical audience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with career programming, employer events, and workshop logistics.
  • Support student engagement efforts through outreach, communications, and event preparation.
  • Provide front-line assistance to students and campus partners under staff supervision.
  • Help maintain career resources, appointment materials, and student-facing communication tools.
  • Support employer relations activities, including registration, outreach, event check-in, and follow-up.
  • Assist with office projects that help students explore career paths, prepare for internships and jobs, and connect with employers.
  • Extract, organize, and analyze engagement data from Handshake Insights, including student logins, profile completion rates, job board activity, and other usage metrics.
  • Build and maintain dashboards in Tableau or Power BI to present trends and key performance indicators for office leadership and campus partners.
  • Prepare reports on career fair registrations, employer networking events, and workshop attendance, comparing registrations to actual turnout to assess participation and engagement patterns.
  • Use Handshake scheduled reports to automate recurring data delivery to academic deans and other campus partners.
  • Support First Destination Survey reporting by reviewing outcomes data, identifying career pathways, and tracking salary and employment trends by major.
  • Assist with the preparation of summary reports and visualizations for internal planning, assessment, and strategic communication.
  • Review and document office workflows related to employer approvals, scheduling, student appointments, and event coordination.
  • Identify bottlenecks in Handshake and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and improve user experience.
  • Conduct periodic data audits to ensure the accuracy and integrity of office records, including duplicate employer entries, outdated contacts, and miscategorized postings.
  • Help translate technical system updates into clear training guides and reference materials for staff, student workers, and advisors.
