About The Position

This role is responsible for defining and maintaining coding standards, designing standardized workflows, and creating solution accelerators for post-acute care coding. The manager will also design the audit framework, perform audits of auditors, lead root cause analysis for accuracy issues, and develop curriculum and certification requirements for new hires. Additionally, the role serves as a subject matter expert for complex coding questions and acts as the functional owner for coding software, collaborating with IT to optimize EHR templates and automated coding tools.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the master coding manual for SNF (PDPM), Home Health (PDGM), and LTC.
  • Design standardized workflows for all delivery teams to ensure consistency.
  • Create solution accelerators (templates, query forms, and checklists) for enterprise-wide use.
  • Design the Audit Framework (scorecard) to measure coding accuracy.
  • Perform high-level "Audit of the Auditors" to ensure consistent application of quality standards.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) when accuracy drops below 95% and design corrective action plans.
  • Develop curriculum and certification requirements for new hires in the post-acute space.
  • Conduct "Train-the-Trainer" sessions for operational leads on new CMS regulations or payer policies.
  • Serve as the SME for complex coding "gray areas" requiring definitive rulings.
  • Act as the Functional Owner for coding software (e.g., Epic, CAC, AI tools).
  • Collaborate with IT to optimize EHR templates and ensure automated coding tools capture correct clinical triggers for reimbursement.
