About The Position

The Portuguese Translator/Interpreter will be responsible for written and oral translation of school documents and communications for Marlborough Public Schools District during the 2026-2027 school year. This role involves translating various school-related materials, including communications to families, teacher/parent communications, Individual Education Plans, and district-wide school messenger content. The position also supports administration in parent outreach and ensures accurate translation of all 'school to home' communications. The translator will maintain an electronic database of all translations and is expected to work a minimum of 10 evening events per fiscal year. Additionally, the role assists with translation for parents registering in the Parent Outreach Center and supports the Administrative Assistant. A flexible schedule is required, including evening parent open houses and conferences. Other duties may be assigned by Building Administrators.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Portuguese.
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable car to travel between schools during the work day.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as he or she deals directly with the public on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and very well organized.
  • Detailed oriented, with analytical and problem-solving skills, along with customer service abilities and other related characteristics.
  • Familiarity with computers and computer software programs, particularly Excel and Microsoft Office including Microsoft Outlook.
  • Familiarity with using the Internet.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability with data base programs such as Aspen are a plus.

Responsibilities
