About The Position

Every Advisor who joins RFG Advisory has the option to place their client accounts on Bluemonte, RFG's internally managed investment platform. When they do, they are trusting RFG to execute those accounts accurately, consistently, and in full compliance with fiduciary standards. The Portfolio Trader is the person who delivers on that trust. This role removes execution risk from Advisor-directed trading by ensuring every internally traded account is placed correctly, kept aligned to its model, and handled with precision from open to close. Requirements

2+ years of trading experience in a fiduciary environment; this is required
Background in a structured, process-oriented investment operations or portfolio management environment
Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to error-free execution
Patient, methodical, and steady under routine and complex trading scenarios alike
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied within established guidelines
Ownership mentality; takes accountability for assigned responsibilities end-to-end
Works independently with discipline while collaborating effectively across advisors, CSAs, and compliance
Respects defined procedures and escalation paths. Knows when to act and when to elevate
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Ability and willingness to learn new trading software and ticketing systems quickly
Proficiency with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot to improve productivity, reduce errors, and streamline workflows within a structured compliance environment
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field
Series 65 or Series 66 required; must obtain within 60 days of hire if not already licensed

Orion Eclipse trading platform experience preferred
ClickONE, Zoho Desk, and Microsoft 365 familiarity preferred

Responsibilities

Execute trades for new accounts based on Advisor requests and approved models.
Maintain and manage the daily trade blotter to ensure timely, accurate execution and a clean close every day.
Review historical trading activity to confirm trades were placed correctly.
Follow all firm policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in every trade placed.
Conduct periodic reviews of accounts to rebalance portfolios back to model targets.
Maintain internal model portfolios and percentage allocations.
Review daily cash reports to identify accounts requiring trading activity.
Advise on model allocation.
Process contributions, distributions, and liquidations accurately and without disrupting the Advisor or client experience.
Execute trade corrections for internally traded and third-party manager accounts.
Resolve trade errors, corrections, and account issues within one business day.
Provide technical and platform support related to trading systems, including Orion Eclipse.
Manage incoming requests through the ClickONE ticketing system and Zoho Desk. Acknowledge same-day requests and resolve within the agreed turnaround.
Support new advisors onboarding onto the Bluemonte platform, ensuring a smooth transition for their client accounts.
Run portfolio analysis for advisors.
Prepare periodic reports and defined data queries.
