Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead highly complex projects & global initiatives, representing Global Clinical Supplies, & providing operational & strategic support across the company.
  • Leverage external network/ relationships to evaluate the industry trends, adapting the information to meet the needs of GCS & the Portfolio Categories, serving as an advisor to others.
  • Interpret clinical protocols and translate study design requirements (e.g., dosing, randomization/blinding, visit schedules, comparators, countries/sites, timelines, patient populations, and labeling needs) into an end-to-end clinical physical and digital supply strategy.
  • Define demand assumptions and scenario plans in partnership with GCSO functions; establish sourcing, packaging/labeling, distribution, and inventory approaches; and align IRT, kit design, and supply chain parameters to enable on-time study start-up and reliable resupply.
  • Partner with Clinical Supply Operations and International Operations to assess feasibility, capacity, and cost across the internal/external network; identify risks (e.g., lead times, cold chain, import/export constraints, country requirements) and implement mitigation and contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted, compliant delivery of physical clinical supplies throughout the GCSO network.
  • Make decisions on complex problems, identifying innovative options and solutions, and recommending courses of action that extend beyond GCS.
  • Prepare GCSO for the workforce of the future by operationalizing AI-enabled decision support across portfolio and network operations.
  • Identify and scale high-impact use cases (e.g., demand forecasting and scenario planning, capacity and utilization optimization across internal/external partners, inventory and resupply parameter setting, control-tower early warning/exception management, and supplier performance trend detection) to improve service, speed, cost, and risk outcomes.
  • Lead adoption through capability building, data/analytics literacy, change management, and clear governance that ensures compliant, explainable, and actionable insights are embedded into routine portfolio reviews and operational execution.
  • Drive Portfolio Operations and Network Optimization transformation to enable Data-Driven, Agile Decision-Making with AI support for forecasting & scenario planning, capacity/utilization optimization, inventory/resupply parameters, control-tower exception management, and supplier performance trend detection—plus adoption elements (capability building, change management, governance).
  • Partner with Clinical Development & Operations teams to align business processes and partnerships within GCS to CD&O.
  • Act independently on self-initiated projects, leveraging knowledge from others, and exercising judgment in complex decisions.
  • Represent GCS on global teams developing solutions within Pfizer R&D
  • Own the strategic external suppliers’ relationships and translate GCSO priorities into tactical operational plans for the delivery of physical clinical supplies, including blinded information.
  • Optimize and govern the external partner network and external clinical supply operations footprint to support Clinical Supply Operations (CSO) and International Operations, translating protocol and portfolio demand into capacity, capability, and sourcing decisions.
  • Ensure fit-for-purpose supplier selection and utilization across packaging/labeling, distribution, storage, and ancillary services; drive performance management through defined KPIs/SLAs, financial controls, and quality oversight; and proactively manage risk, issue escalation, and business continuity planning to ensure uninterrupted, compliant delivery of physical clinical supplies across the end-to-end clinical supply chain.
  • Manages GMP external supplier oversight with the strategic Network performance, including accountability for Global Network Performance and Physical Supply utilization across the portfolio.
  • Create visibility to data on clinical supply utilization through operations control tower and impact of portfolio changes to the GCS Leadership Team to enable them to make quick, informed decisions surrounding external suppliers.
  • Review Portfolio Operations projects/ work for effectiveness of results, with contributions evaluated based on business impact, and review the work of other colleagues.
  • Work with Pfizer Category & Asset Leads to ensure alignment of appropriate capabilities and operations vendors in support of the clinical portfolio.
  • Develop Portfolio Operations team to enable ongoing growth and long-term success of the team and GCS.
  • Establish metrics to measure performance/ demonstrate success within GCSO by supporting visibility across the portfolio.
  • Measure performance of our external network
  • Measure utilization rate of supply at clinical sites.
  • Develop the Control Tower capabilities for business Continuity, acceleration and Portfolio changes impacting GCSO.
  • Responsible for managing the operational relationship across the GCS Strategic Partner Network in close partnership with Clinical Supply Operations and International Operations
  • Exercise foresight and judgment utilizing knowledge and experience to identify & mitigate risk, within portfolio categories and the Operational Supply Chain.
  • Monitor vendor performance across the network, provide a simplified and consistent escalation pathway, and enable the governance, insights, and business operations required to keep strategic partnerships performing at a high level, while study level oversight and operational execution accountability remain with the appropriate functional‑ lines.
  • Acts decisively, making effective decisions by applying supply chain, scientific or financial acumen.
  • Acts with the appropriate level of urgency and removes barriers to timely delivery of the portfolio.
  • Develop and implement mid-to long-term supply chain strategies and networks to support business growth and new program execution.
  • Develop & implement agile data solutions that allow for real time access to data and changes to format to respond to the evolution of business needs and portfolio solutions
  • Own end-to-end supply chain management, acting as a strategic partner to stakeholders.
  • Effectively identify and address issues related to supply chain health.
  • Representing GCS/ Pfizer at external industry groups.
  • Actively engages with external thought leaders on industry related topics.
  • Aligns colleagues with external counterparts for informal benchmarking and/or networking purposes.
  • Oversee budgets and spend with strategic partners resulting in >$300M annually
