About The Position

Portage, the venture capital arm of Sagard Holdings, is seeking a highly analytical and passionate Portfolio & Market Intelligence Analyst Intern to join their team in Toronto. This internship is for current undergraduate students available for an 8-month period from January 2027 to August 2027. The intern will play a key role in supporting the team in identifying and supporting transformative companies in the financial services sector. Portage offers a hybrid working environment at its downtown Toronto office and hires on a rolling basis.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; preferably in STEM, Commerce, or business related fields.
• Strong academic record.
• A strong passion and /or interest in financial services and technology.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and in an entrepreneurial environment where things change constantly.
• Organized with a close attention to detail.
• Team player – collaborate and willing to take on whatever is needed to support the team.
• Ability to attentively review, assess, and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to synthesize and articulate thoughts about companies and markets concisely.
• Knowledge and familiarity with data manipulation and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills.
• Must be authorized to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Assist in investment operations by working with the business team and investment team to identify pain points and research potential solutions alongside our engineering team.
• Conduct portfolio and fund analysis and monitoring through collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from our portfolio companies.
• Assist in research and presentation writing, including analyzing data, visualizing data, and writing/designing decks.
• Provide ad-hoc analytical and strategic support to senior management, as needed.
