About The Position

Southern Land Company, a national real estate development and construction firm is seeking a full-time Portfolio Manager to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be able to work independently, in a fast-paced work environment. The Portfolio Manager for a small family office oversees a complex investment portfolio and is designed for an individual who is both highly analytical and willing to roll up their sleeves to work directly in the details. This position is responsible for growing and protecting assets through customized strategies to meet long-term financial goals. This is an in-office position based at our corporate office in Nashville, TN, or our regional office in Manhattan with a work schedule of 30+ hours per week. The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000, based on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related discipline
  • CFA, CFP or CPA
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial services, client services or wealth management
  • Strong commitment to fiduciary duty and protecting client.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to see both the forest and the trees.
  • Strong judgment and solution-oriented approach to complex problems.
  • Proven problem-solver with the ability to develop actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High integrity, sound judgment, attention to detail, and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison and proactively manage relationships with specialists (investment managers, accountants, tax advisors and attorneys), handling high-touch service to retain assets and ensure a cohesive strategy for asset protection.
  • Review and analyze investment performance and reports, conduct research, and develop holistic wealth strategies, including portfolio management, retirement, estate, and philanthropic planning, and tax services, to ensure alignment with goals and risk tolerance.
  • Prepare consolidated financial reports, track investment performance, and monitor expenses.
  • Evaluate new financial, retirement, and estate plans and recommend investment strategies.
  • Continuously improve investment analytics, modeling standards, and decision-support processes.
