About The Position

Bank of Marin is seeking a Portfolio Manager to join their Commercial Banking Office on-site in San Francisco. This role supports the Commercial Banking Office by partnering with Relationship Managers to manage the loan application process. The Portfolio Manager is primarily responsible for credit analysis, underwriting, documentation, and the loan closing process for assigned prospects and clients. They may also perform senior credit analyst responsibilities. The role involves ensuring the assigned loan portfolio is properly risk-graded, compliant with loan agreements, and that potential risks are identified and addressed. The Portfolio Manager will also partner with the Regional Manager to provide quality client service, gather information for new loan requests, coordinate with Credit Analysts, work with credit administration on documentation, and close loans. They should have an understanding of loan types and requirements, and be able to work independently with some assistance. Responsibilities include monitoring the loan portfolio for risks, maintaining loan files, and possessing knowledge of deposit and Treasury Services products. The role operates under moderate supervision.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Working knowledge of accounting, financial accounting, and credit analysis.
  • Ability to work with detailed information in an efficient and accurate manner, while meeting established deadlines.
  • Proficient typing and computer skills, particularly in using Microsoft Office Tools, and the Bank’s current software system.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivated individual with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work well with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve issues making sound judgments.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and evaluate detailed and complex loan documents.
  • Thorough understanding and familiarity of the bank’s loan policies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory and legal issues encountered in the completion and closing of complex personal and commercial loans.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the loan application process in partnership with Relationship Managers.
  • Perform credit analysis, underwriting, documentation, and loan closing for assigned prospects and clients.
  • Ensure assigned loan portfolio is properly risk graded and compliant with loan agreements/approvals.
  • Identify and address potential risks within the loan portfolio.
  • Provide quality service to clients by directing and assisting with needs and inquiries.
  • Gather information for new loan requests.
  • Coordinate with Credit Analysts on loan package preparation and proposals.
  • Work with credit administration to properly document loans.
  • Close loans with borrowers when needed.
  • Monitor current loan portfolio to identify risks and maintain up-to-date loan files.
  • Possess knowledge of all deposit and Treasury Services products, as well as other services offered to commercial clients.
