About The Position

Provident Bank is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager II to support a portfolio of Middle Market Lending relationships. This role manages the ongoing credit and portfolio administration needs of commercial clients while partnering with Relationship Managers to support client retention, portfolio growth, and sound credit quality. The position is responsible for financial analysis, credit underwriting, risk assessment, loan documentation support, and ongoing portfolio monitoring, with guidance on more complex transactions as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of commercial banking, credit, underwriting, or portfolio management experience.
  • Demonstrated financial statement analysis and commercial credit underwriting skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending products, credit risk management, and portfolio administration.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and identify and escalate credit concerns.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned Middle Market commercial relationships in partnership with Relationship Managers, supporting client service, retention, and appropriate expansion opportunities.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, credit quality, covenant compliance, risk ratings, delinquency trends, and emerging issues; escalate concerns promptly.
  • Prepare annual reviews, renewals, modifications, and other ongoing portfolio analyses accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Maintain complete and current credit files and follow through on financial reporting, documentation, and approval requirements.
  • Prepare well-supported credit memorandums and loan presentations for new and existing borrowing relationships.
  • Analyze financial statements, cash flow, repayment capacity, collateral, and borrower and guarantor strength.
  • Identify key lending risks and mitigating factors and support the structuring of credit facilities in accordance with bank policy and credit standards.
  • Complete credit analyses for transactions of moderate complexity and partner with senior portfolio or credit resources on more complex relationships.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers on customer needs, portfolio strategy, and appropriate new business opportunities.
  • Participate in customer calls and internal credit discussions as needed.
  • Coordinate with Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Compliance, and other stakeholders to support a timely and consistent credit process.
  • Communicate clearly with internal partners regarding outstanding information, credit conditions, and portfolio matters.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of commercial lending practices, credit policy, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in special projects, portfolio reviews, and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Support team coverage and knowledge sharing and provide guidance to less experienced team members when requested.
