About The Position

Valnet Inc. is a leading global media investment company, managing and expanding digital properties across multiple verticals, including entertainment, technology, sports, and gaming. We specialize in acquiring high-performing brands and driving their growth. Our portfolio includes well-known entertainment sites such as ScreenRant, Collider, CBR, MovieWeb, TheThings and Polygon. As we continue to scale, we are seeking a dynamic Portfolio General Manager to support the strategic growth of our brands. We are looking for a highly ambitious and strategic Portfolio General Manager to oversee the management and growth of one of Valnet’s portfolios. This role is ideal for a seasoned leader with a background in media management, strategy, or P&L management, and a strong affinity for the industry. You will be responsible for driving revenue, optimizing operations, and leading teams across brands within the portfolio. The ideal candidate possesses a blend of strong analytical skills, leadership qualities, and a proven track record of scaling digital brands.

Requirements

  • 5–15 years of experience in roles such as General Manager, Portfolio Manager, Corporate Strategy, M&A, Private Equity, Operations Management, or Investment Banking.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute effectively, with a strong understanding of P&L management, corporate strategy, and revenue optimization.
  • Proven experience leading teams and fostering both accountability and collaboration. Comfortable making difficult decisions and driving results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify market trends, measure business performance, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders, including senior leadership and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement strategic plans to maximize the performance and growth of the Screen portfolio. Lead teams to align on vision, drive initiatives, and optimize brand positioning across the entertainment vertical.
  • Identify opportunities to boost revenue streams across multiple channels, including programmatic advertising, direct advertising, and affiliate marketing. Collaborate with sales and business development teams to secure strategic partnerships that enhance revenue.
  • Develop and monitor P&L statements, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising content quality. Identify opportunities for cost optimization and lead initiatives to streamline operations.
  • Oversee editorial direction and ensure content strategies are data-driven, audience-focused, and aligned with the company’s long-term vision. Track market trends and competitor performance to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance. Mentor brand leaders by setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback to support continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate brand performance, track progress, and drive strategic adjustments. Prepare comprehensive reports for senior leadership outlining portfolio performance, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for new projects, initiatives, and investments within the entertainment sector that complement or expand the current portfolio. Build business cases, assess feasibility, and lead the execution of new ventures.
