About The Position

We are a privately held family office that owns and operates a diverse portfolio of companies and holdings. Our businesses span multiple industries and are actively focused on growth, operational excellence, and strategic acquisitions. This position offers a clear path for growth and increasing responsibility as our portfolio continues to expand. We are seeking an experienced Portfolio Controller to help lead and strengthen the accounting and financial reporting functions across our portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, and wants broad exposure to multiple businesses rather than a single company. This is a hands-on leadership role. We're looking for someone who can think strategically while remaining comfortable diving into the details when necessary. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable reviewing financial statements, improving processes, leading a team, and working through complex accounting issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience managing accounting operations and month-end close processes.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation.
  • Experience in a multi-entity or multi-location environment.
  • Experience working with private equity, family office, or holding company structures.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions and post-acquisition integrations.
  • Experience with ERP implementations or accounting system optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple operating companies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Review financial statements and account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members across the portfolio.
  • Improve accounting processes, workflows, and internal controls.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide financial insights and operational support.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, and financial analysis.
  • Coordinate external audits, tax reporting, lender reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Support acquisition due diligence, purchase accounting, and post-acquisition integration activities.
  • Standardize accounting policies and reporting practices across portfolio companies.
  • Evaluate and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Work closely with the CFO and Executive Team on special projects and strategic initiatives.

Benefits

  • Work directly with executive leadership and company ownership.
  • Broad exposure to multiple businesses and industries.
  • Significant opportunity for professional growth and advancement.
  • Involvement in acquisitions, integrations, and strategic projects.
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial culture focused on results.
