About The Position

Seeking a Portfolio Associate to support the management and monitoring of a diversified portfolio of leveraged and corporate loan exposures. This individual will partner closely with Underwriting, Leveraged Finance, Capital Markets, and Relationship Management teams to evaluate credit performance, identify emerging risks, and support credit decision-making throughout the life of a transaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in credit analysis, financial statement analysis, and commercial lending, with experience monitoring non-investment grade companies.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in: Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking, Leveraged Finance, Credit Risk Management, Asset-Based Lending (ABL), Portfolio Management
  • Experience analyzing non-investment grade and leveraged borrowers.
  • Strong understanding of commercial loan structures and credit documentation.
  • Familiarity with revolvers, term loans, ABL facilities, and covenant packages.
  • Financial modeling and credit underwriting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.

  • Formal Credit Training Program preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong accounting and financial statement analysis capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the ongoing credit performance of a portfolio of middle-market and large corporate borrowers.
  • Analyze quarterly and annual financial results, operating trends, liquidity, leverage, and cash flow performance.
  • Identify and escalate emerging credit risks, industry developments, and covenant compliance concerns.
  • Maintain risk ratings and recommend changes based on evolving borrower fundamentals.
  • Participate in annual reviews, portfolio reviews, watchlist discussions, and risk committee presentations.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models.
  • Perform cash flow, liquidity, leverage, and debt service coverage analysis.
  • Conduct comparable company and capital structure analyses.
  • Assess borrower repayment capacity and downside risk scenarios.
  • Review management projections and variance-to-plan reporting.
  • Evaluate amendments, waivers, covenant modifications, and restructuring requests.
  • Review credit agreements, loan documents, security packages, and collateral reporting.
  • Support underwriting efforts for new transactions, refinancings, and incremental financings.
  • Assist in preparing credit memoranda and approval materials.
  • Partner with Leveraged Finance, Capital Markets, Industry Coverage, Research, Trading, and Legal teams.
  • Present borrower updates and portfolio analysis to senior management.
  • Collaborate with relationship managers and deal teams on ongoing client developments.
