About The Position
This is an entry-level food service position involving simple manual and heavy labor tasks in connection with the operation of the Central Kitchen, middle schools, and high schools. The employee may assist Food Service truck drivers with daily deliveries, works under the direct supervision of a higher-level employee, and reports directly to that employee. The position also performs related work as required. The Rochester City School District serves nearly 23,000 students across 48 PreK sites and 39 schools. Requirements
- Some knowledge of proper methods for caring for kitchen appliances.
- Ability to lift heavy weights.
- Willingness to perform routine, recurring manual tasks.
- Thoroughness and dependability.
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
- No education or experience requirements.
Responsibilities
- Carry supplies to and from the storeroom.
- Wash pots and pans.
- Operate kitchen appliances and equipment.
- Receive early deliveries and put milk in lowerators.
- Help cooks with heavy lifting.
- Keep freezers and refrigerators in order.
- Sweep and mop kitchen and storeroom floors, as well as walk-in freezer and refrigerator floors.
- Clean behind the serving counter in faculty and student lunchrooms.
- May assist Food Service truck drivers with daily deliveries.
- Perform related work as required.
