The Port Engineer will provide shore-side and on-board engineering support to the vessel fleet, covering mechanical, electrical, HVAC, general repairs, and technical support. This role involves supporting and coaching shore-side Mechanics and Vessel Engineers, and assisting the Project Manager with machinery and equipment for replacement and new construction. The Port Engineer will also help develop specifications for new construction projects or repowers, and contribute to the development of maintenance and repair projections for vessels. Direct supervision of dry-dockings and major repairs, including managing associated costs and RFQs, will be required. The position involves visiting vessels in operation for repair and preventive maintenance planning, maintaining annual and quarterly inspections, and conducting vessel crew training. Advanced troubleshooting of machinery and equipment, and communication and coordination with other departments (Port Captains, VQSE’s, Purchasing, Inventory Manager) are key responsibilities. Travel to vessels, including out-of-town stays, is necessary, as is standing on-call weekend/evening duty rotation. The Port Engineer must observe, follow, and enforce all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment and proper use of equipment and tools. The role also includes supporting and managing oil sample analysis reports for assigned vessels, and managing all work orders, purchase orders, observations, and deficiencies for assigned operating vessels daily.
