About The Position

Performs sound and security watch to physically observe/check each boat and service craft of Port Operations inside the Small Boat Basin (SBB), ensuring all moorings are correct and made fast to respective bollards, bitts or cleats. Conducts security rounds each one-hour and performs sounding of bilge water of all boats and crafts every two-hours; maintaining constant radio contact with Port Control Tower (PCT) reporting status, condition or any unusual circumstances occurring on each boat and service craft. Makes a log entry on the condition of each boat and craft after each round. Activates the Fire and Flooding Alarm System of all YONs (fuel/oil barges) at the start of the watch and deactivates same at the end of the watch. Incumbent performs duties/watch either on swing shift (1600H - 2400H) or graveyard shift (2300H - 0700H), accompanied by another boat watcher at all times. While on duty, incumbent wears the identification garment, maintains awareness to safety requirements and keeps all work areas clean and in good housekeeping. Performs other duties as required to support contract requirements of Annex-06.

Requirements

  • Must speak, read, and understand English language, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledgeable in use of VHF marine band radio (handheld or base type) and possesses basic radio communication skills.
  • Must at least have basic knowledge in electricity and electrical hazards.
  • Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
  • Willing to work on swing and graveyard shift rotation, as scheduled by the PCT Supervisor.
  • High School graduate or its equivalent.
  • At least one-year experience as laborer or helper on any trade.
