About The Position

The Pool Technician supports the daily operation, cleaning, and routine maintenance of the Resort's swimming pools, spas, and associated water features and deck areas. Working under the direction of Director of Maintenance and any certified pool operator on staff, the Technician helps maintain safe, clean, and properly balanced aquatic facilities for guests in accordance with Company standards and applicable New York State health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to learn and follow water-chemistry testing procedures and safe chemical-handling practices.
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to follow established safety protocols and written instructions.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and early-morning or evening hours, based on Resort operating needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and guests.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in pool maintenance, facilities, grounds, or a related hands-on role.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification, or willingness to obtain certification, is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning of pools, spas, and water features, including skimming, vacuuming, brushing, and emptying skimmer baskets.
  • Test pool and spa water for chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and other levels as directed, and assist in adjusting water chemistry to maintain proper balance.
  • Add and handle pool chemicals safely in accordance with manufacturer instructions, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Company safety procedures.
  • Operate, monitor, and clean filtration and circulation equipment, including backwashing filters and checking pumps, gauges, and flow rates.
  • Clean and maintain pool decks, surrounding areas, furniture, and storage spaces in a safe, orderly, and presentable condition.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs and records of water-quality readings, chemical usage, and maintenance activities as required by Company policy and applicable regulations.
  • Identify and promptly report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, low chemical supplies, or water-quality issues to the supervisor.
  • Assist with seasonal opening and closing of pools and spas, including setup, draining, cleaning, and winterization tasks.
  • Support compliance with posted safety rules and signage and maintain the availability and condition of required safety equipment.
  • Respond courteously to guest questions or concerns regarding pool areas and escalate matters appropriately.
  • Follow all Company health, safety, and conduct standards as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
