Oaklawn is seeking a talented individual to become a Pool Attendant. This role is responsible for providing knowledgeable, prompt, friendly, and courteous service of food and beverages to dining guests, ensuring expectations are exceeded. The Pool Attendant will maintain a friendly and professional image at the Hotel/Casino and will enthusiastically support and promote superior customer service. This position requires maintaining strict confidentiality, providing impeccable guest service, and being responsive to guests, bussers, and hosts. The role involves maintaining current and accurate menu information, suggesting items based on guest preferences, and up-selling appetizers, beverages, and desserts. A working knowledge of POS systems is necessary for entering orders and processing payments. The Pool Attendant will follow all cash handling and gaming guidelines, ensure proper setup and maintenance of service stations, tables, and common areas, and maintain polished and stocked silverware, glassware, and flatware. Knowledge of liquor and wine service, along with state laws, is required. The role includes delivering prepared food within designated time standards, monitoring and resolving service issues, and assisting with bussing, cleaning, and setting tables. Maintaining cleanliness of designated areas, deep cleaning restaurant equipment, and operating/maintaining equipment according to guidelines are also key responsibilities. The Pool Attendant will promote current casino events and programs, provide directions to casino areas, and clear, clean, reset, and maintain their station during shifts. Assisting other servers and handling guest receipts according to policy are expected. Staying updated on casino events and F&B outlet hours of operation, and following Oaklawn's procedures and policies are mandatory. A comprehensive knowledge of the a la carte menu, daily features, specials, and available liquors, beer, and wines is required. Setting up orders according to standards, proactively looking for guest service opportunities, and taking ownership of requests are essential. Maintaining a professional and positive attitude in difficult situations, responding to guest inquiries about pool activities, timing, Spa & Resort, Spa Menu, and other facility information is crucial. The role also involves enforcing all facility policies and rules, and setting up and breaking down pool equipment such as chaise lounges and umbrellas. Physical requirements include the ability to lift or carry a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted, willingness to work outdoors in seasonal heat (100F+) or cold inclement weather, effective communication with guests and employees, and the ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and sun exposure. Maintaining the cleanliness of the pool area, including removing towels and dishes, and straightening pool furniture at the beginning, during, and end of each shift is required to ensure guest safety and maintain an inviting image. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
