Summer Staff Ponderosa Lodge Retail Lead
About The Position
The Ponderosa Lodge (PL) Retail Lead is a ministerial position responsible for the PL Camp Store and its contribution to the camp program. The role oversees store care and maintenance, inventory, staffing, cleanliness, revenue handling, and customer service, while directing the work of camp store staff. The Retail Lead is expected to model Christian discipleship and support campers’ safety, well-being, and spiritual growth through program activities and curriculum, consistent with Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s mission, vision, beliefs, culture code, and standards of conduct. Ministerial staff are expected to demonstrate their Christian faith through their work, stewardship, relationships, and behavior. All staff are expected to participate in gatherings that include prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching.
Requirements
- High school graduate.
- CPR and First Aid certified.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- At least one year of previous retail or customer service experience.
- At least one year of experience leading teams.
- Prior experience working with junior high and high school students.
- Working knowledge of POS systems.
- Ability to articulate the gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
- Ability to demonstrate a personal, committed, and thought-through faith in Christ.
- Positive role model, listener, and enthusiastic leader; must exhibit strong interpersonal skills with people of all ages.
- Willingness to serve whenever needed.
- Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.
- At least 18 years of age due to onsite community living requirements.
- Clean driving record for at least three years and agreement to comply with MHA employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and personal vehicles used for business.
- Adherence to MHA’s mission, vision, culture code, and standards of conduct, as well as the company dress code and professional grooming and appearance standards.
- Satisfactory completion of a background investigation or possession of a valid work permit, and ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Ability to stand for long periods, squat, twist, and lift or carry up to 25 pounds for a maximum of 20 feet.

Responsibilities
- Oversee care and maintenance of the Ponderosa Lodge Camp Store, ensuring it is stocked, staffed, and cleaned.
- Oversee proper handling of all store revenue.
- Maintain an inviting, attractive, orderly, and clean retail space.
- Resolve customer service issues professionally and promptly to ensure an excellent customer experience.
- Direct the work of staff working in the Ponderosa Lodge Camp Store.
- Support campers’ safety, well-being, and spiritual growth through program activities and curriculum.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Ponderosa Lodge Administrative Coordinator.
