The Polysomnography Technologist - Per Diem position is responsible for preparing and calibrating equipment, applying monitoring electrodes, following sleep procedures to establish baseline values, and assisting with scoring sleep/wake stages and report generation. This role implements appropriate interventions for patient safety and therapeutic needs, performs polysomnographic data acquisition, and ensures the integrity of collected data. The technologist also sets up monitoring apparatus, maintains equipment, schedules and discusses tests with patients, and educates physicians and patients on sleep medicines. A key aspect of this role is demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding growth and development principles across the life span.
