This position works under the supervision of the Sr. Administrative Director/ Cardiopulmonary Services or designee, Supervisor and upon the orders of a physician. The technologist performs technically high-quality PSG testing as outlined in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and performs CPAP/BIPAP/ASV/AVAP titrations. The role involves maintaining sleep apnea and titration logs during tests and demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient. The technologist will perform non-invasive polysomnography using 16 or more channels, correctly and accurately place PSG monitors, and set up CPAP/BIPAP/ASV/AVAPS, administering oxygen therapy as necessary. Responsibilities also include charting patient events, behaviors, and information, using the Hospital EPIC/Meditech computer system, performing preventative maintenance, calibration, minor repairs, cleaning, and disinfecting equipment, and performing related duties such as stocking supplies, clerical duties, and satisfying staff inquiries. The technologist is expected to stay current on sleep literature and new technologies and perform other duties as assigned.
