About The Position

Join Cedars-Sinai, an organization consistently recognized for excellence in healthcare. We are seeking a Polysomnographic Technician to work per diem on nights. This role involves preparing sleep studies, supporting patients with positive airway pressure issues, and conducting polysomnogram scoring. You will also oversee home sleep study logistics, set up and score home sleep testing devices, and collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to meet specific needs. The position requires determining final testing parameters in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director, explaining procedures to patients, selecting and calibrating appropriate equipment, applying electrodes and sensors, performing data acquisition while monitoring tracing quality, identifying and correcting artifacts, and documenting observations. Patient education and instruction related to sleep testing are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • EEG (Electroencephalogram Technologist) Certification by ABRET
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (PSG) CA License by BRPT and/or Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by Respiratory Care Board of California
  • One (1) plus years’ experience in PSG (Polysomnographic Technologist) and home sleep study scoring

Responsibilities

  • Determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols
  • Explain procedures and orient the patient for sleep testing
  • Select appropriate equipment and calibrate for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments, if necessary; apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards
  • Perform data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free
  • Identify, correct and document artifacts
  • Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results
  • Perform patient education and instruction appropriate for sleep testing
