About The Position

Polygon is seeking experienced and passionate freelance List Writers with expertise in Entertainment (Movies & TV) and/or Gaming. This is a paid freelance, remote position where writers will create original, engaging, and high-quality content in a timely manner for a leading digital publication covering gaming, entertainment, and culture.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience producing entertainment, gaming, or related digital content.
• In-depth familiarity with and a genuine passion for Entertainment and/or Gaming.
• For Entertainment writers: broad knowledge of movies and television, including genres, franchises, streaming platforms, industry trends, and entertainment history.
• For Gaming writers: broad knowledge of video games, including major franchises, genres, platforms, developers, gaming history, and current industry trends.
• Ability to research, develop, and write engaging list-based articles for a digital audience.
• Experience with SEO best practices.
• Prohibition on using Artificial Intelligence.

Nice To Haves

• Educational background in journalism, communications, English, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with a custom CMS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work under tight deadlines and submit tasks on time.
• Have a strong working knowledge of either Entertainment (Movies & TV) or Gaming, including current releases, established franchises, classics, cult favorites, and emerging trends.
• Pitch and produce compelling list-based content that appeals to Polygon's gaming and entertainment audiences.
• Able to maintain a contracted freelance schedule.
• Report to various Editors and implement feedback efficiently.
• Adhere to Polygon's editorial standards and style guide.
