About The Position

The Policy Issue Specialist reports to the Eligibility & Policy Issue Department Manager in the MWG-Administrators Division. The position is a non-exempt, hourly role and located at 500 Steed Road, Ridgeland, MS 39157. The Policy Issue Specialist processes applications for, changes to, reinstatement of, and cancellation of insurance policies. They also create, edit, and distribute insurance related documents such as ID Cards, Certificates of Insurance, and policy documents. To perform the job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Tools.
  • Strong time management, organizational, problem solving, and customer service skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure with multiple priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must be able to work as scheduled.
  • Must possess sight and hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position as stated above can be fully met.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, and sit or stand at a desk during 85% of the workday.
  • Must be able to lift, stoop, and carry small equipment items and supplies, possibly weighing up to 20lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Previous knowledge of life and health insurance preferred.
  • Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process new insurance policies and modifications to existing policies.
  • Obtain information from policyholders to verify the accuracy and completeness of information on applications, related documents, and company records.
  • Process and record new insurance policies.
  • Correspond with insured to obtain information or inform them account status or changes.
  • Modify, update, and process existing policies to reflect any change in beneficiary, amount of coverage, or type of insurance.
  • Process, prepare, and submit business or government forms, such as submitting applications for coverage to insurance carriers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager.
  • All members of this department are cross-trained on the active roles within the department.
