About The Position

Wing is seeking a Policy Communications Lead to join its Communications team. The role sets and executes communications strategy for engaging federal regulators, state and local officials, community groups, and reporters as Wing scales drone delivery. This is a senior individual-contributor position with broad scope and influence, but no direct reports. The Lead works across Government Affairs, Legal, Policy, Marketing, Operations, and retail and logistics partners to build an accurate, verifiable record for communities and officials. The position may be hybrid in Palo Alto, California, or remote within the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience scaling, operationalizing, or commercializing at a previous company.

  • Experience working with reporters on policy-driven or contested stories.
  • Ability to explain technical topics credibly without oversimplifying.
  • Strong judgment under pressure, including making decisions with incomplete information and escalating appropriately to Legal and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own Wing's policy and regulatory communications strategy across federal, state, and local audiences.
  • Advise senior leaders and executives on how Wing's public positioning affects permitting, legislation, and litigation.
  • Partner with Government Affairs and Legal to align messaging on rulemakings, legislation, litigation, and permitting proceedings, and determine when to escalate.
  • Build the community-facing evidence base on noise, flight volume, operating hours, and data and privacy practices with Operations, and keep it accurate and current.
  • Prepare executives and spokespeople for hearings, council meetings, and high-stakes media interviews.
  • Lead issues and rapid-response communications when a market comes under scrutiny, including coordinating with partners on how Wing is described.
  • Develop pre-launch and pre-permit outreach toolkits for market teams to use at scale.
  • Monitor policy, media, and community sentiment and translate it into clear risk assessments and recommendations for leadership.
  • Manage agency and consultant relationships for policy and issues communications.
  • Build a network of credible third-party voices, including host communities, partners, and outside experts.
